My love of snow has somewhat lessened over the years. Maybe it's because I have to battle the school run, worry about traffic and try not to wipe out in front of the supermarket (been there, done that). But like most things when you become an adult, a certain fire gets reignited when you see things through a child's eyes.
They have been waiting and waiting and waiting (amazingly patiently) for snow to head our way this Winter. It's been two years since we had snow and the twins don't really remember it as they were so young. We had all but given up on the idea until we woke up on Tuesday morning to see a Winter Wonderland in our garden! The kids were beyond excited and all I could hear was "SNOOOOOWWWWW!" ringing through the house. I knew it wouldn't last the day and couldn't bear the thought of disappointment on their faces after school. So, with thirty minutes to spare before uniform time we whipped on coats, wellies and gloves and made the most of it in our PJ's. I wouldn't usually consider snowball fights at 7:30am on a school day, but their shrieks and giggles were so contagious how could I say no?!
Thank you, my spirited kiddos, for making an ordinary Tuesday wonderful. Sometimes rules just need to be broken.
They look like they had so much fun!! Good job you didn't wait! Yes rules are sometimes meant
ReplyDeleteto be broken :) x
Love the pics! There's always time to have some fun no matter what time of day. Everything else will still be there when they're done! Let's hope we get a little more snow again. Looks so lovely x
ReplyDeleteWe've had so much of it I was fed up by day 3. Our roads became totally chaotic and it took me 5 hours to get to work...I isually love it but I think these days I love it when I don't have to be at work :)
ReplyDeleteAwww snow I think is really for kids! I love your photos! So clear and snow made everything more magical looking =) #countrykids
ReplyDeleteWow! I'm soooo impressed that you managed to get out and about before School - well done you! They look like they're having such a lovely time in the snow and that you had a decent amount too. Yes rules are sometimes meant to be broken and when they are it's the best feeling ever!

I love the idea of a snowball fight in PJ's, it sounds like the perfect start to a day, if a little chilly. It looks like your garden was more of a winter wonderland than ours turned into, my lot still managed to have a little fun in the snow before it was all gone though. Thanks for linking up with Country Kids.
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful photos and yes, sometimes rules definitely have to be broken - having a snowball fight in pyjamas sounds like great fun! I've always liked the snow but seeing it through my children's eyes makes it even more fun :-)
ReplyDeleteFabulous! So glad you got some and that they managed to play in it :) Love the shot coming down the slide, we've done that too!
ReplyDeleteHooray - so lovely to see they got their snow. What could be better than having snowball fights in your pj's?! xx
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you got a good covering! As much as I hate it I do love to see my children's excitement! Lovely photos.
